Today many versions of linux and other kernel based operating systems are used in the new kind of phones. This kind of operating systems can be easily made using the linux type kernel source code. Many other RTOS are also employed in this tasks.
But the iPhone runs Mac OS X. It is a version that has been optimized for the iPhone.
